The dry, sunny weather saw a good number of riders flocking to Congresbury for today’s spin to Glastonbury (usually a pacey little number).

The groups set off on slightly circuitous routes (as seems to be becoming the norm) looking for some climbing (possibly to warm up in the slightly cooler temperatures) before hitting the levels where the open land meant some hard work was required in the wind.

After coffee (no espresso machine, filter or cafeteria only!) the groups departed for the usual wind supported speed-fest towards Sweets and Wedmore, with a number of PBs being recorded. The sun and blue skies encouraged many to stay out longer than first and seek a less direct route home to make the most of conditions resulting in a total of 700-800m of climbing being achieved on what, at face value, is a flat ride across the Somerset Levels
