CDRC Riders from all corners of North Somerset heeded the cal and congregated North of The Wall (well Avonmouth Bridge) and formed into groups ready to take on the wild, unexplored North – yes, this week was one of those rare excursions North, with the Grupetto and Intermediate groups head to Old Down, and the Fast group to Berkley

The cool start encouraged a brisk pace, and soon blue skies and bright sunshine lightened the mood, if not the temperature, for what (aside from a few idiots on the road) was an enjoyable trip out.

Sat outside, in sunshine, drinking coffee and eating cake sounds idyllic and it would have been aside from a distinctly average selection of cakes, which were deemed not be the best we have had.

The hoped for tailwind for the return didn’t seem to materialise (in fact not quite sure which way the wind was blowing today…) but the sun remained. On reaching Bristol, the route out was re-traced rather than the usual Portway blast to ensure the runners were avoided.
