Sunday saw the first Captain’s Challenge ride of the year with the traditional seasonal opener – Randonee au Plat – a gentle (terrain wise) intro across the levels.
The (unseasonable) spell of weather contributing to a good turn out, with eight riders setting off from Clevedon, soon to be joined by far more at Congresbury meaning all three groups were on the road again (good to see the Gruppetto / Touring Group being re-invigorated, welcoming some new riders and running more frequently).
To the relief of those in more lightweight kit, the sun soon broke through providing warmth (after initial temperatures of not much above 1 degree), with coffee and cake at Sweets enjoyed outside in the sun.
As temperatures continued to rise, so did the pace around the lanes providing an early season workout for some and chance to judge post winter fitness for others.
A great ride, good company and balmy weather (15 degrees towards the end)
